Read all about how I got to be apart of this year's Roundhouse Rising Sounds!
After searching the web last year for several music opportunities in London, I came across Roundhouse Rising Sounds. A project that gives unsigned, emerging artists age 18-25, the opportunity to work with some of the best producers in London and get one of their tracks recorded, mixed and mastered. For those that don't know Roundhouse is a respected performing arts and concert venue, who are constantly providing young creatives like myself, opportunities to develop themselves as artists. From projects to workshops, singers to aspiring presenters, Roundhouse has got you covered.
I applied with a leap of faith and was over the moon to receive a phone call informing me that I had been one of the lucky 8. The project was split into 3 days. The first day was a pre-production session, were I met my assigned producer Ronika for the first time. During this day we were given the time to catch a vibes and get an idea of the type of song we wanted to create. It was compulsory to come prepared with a track that you had already written, which was a God send as I already had a song that I was eager to get some music behind. Ronika came with the perfect vibe and by the end of day 1 we was ready for 2 jam packed days of recording and mastering. On day 2 we were introduced to our assigned engineer AJ. We spent the day in one of Roundhouse's recording studios, perfecting the production and rearranging some of the vocals. As a new artist, it was great to work so closely with both an engineer and a producer. So much goes into engineering that many people (including myself) do not recognise and I was grateful to be given the opportunity to learn first-hand about the technicalities behind some of our favourite songs. By day 3 our song was complete and ready to submit.
As a Rising Sounds participant, my track will be featured on Roundhouse's compilation album, along with the other 7 artists who were a part of this project. The album will be launched on March 1st 2018 and will be available via Soundcloud, so be sure to keep a look out. Thanks again to Roundhouse and Ronika, for recognising me and my work and for giving me an opportunity to progress further in my career.
